VCA Makes Washington D.C.'s List of Best Places to Work
A highly-regarded regional magazine, Washingtonian, conducts a bi-annual search for the top places of employment in the metropolitan area of Maryland, Virginia and the district.
VCA was one of over 225 companies who competed for the 'Great Places to Work' honor in 2007. Of those, 60 were rated as top employers and 18 were awarded honorable mention.
'In the ever-changing work environment, it's important to stay ahead of the game to retain our valuable employees. We make sure that's a priority at VCA,' said Ed Greene, chief executive officer of VCA.
Washingtonian praised VCA for its fun culture citing grilled cheese parties and ghost tours in Annapolis, Md., as team-building activities. The magazine also highlighted VCA's work schedule, including flexible summer hours and telecommuting options.
'I am very proud to be a part of this team,' noted Greene. 'Over the past year we have worked hard to reenergize the staff and make work meaningful and fun. We have always known what a great place VCA is and now we can share that with the whole Washington D.C. area.'
Washingtonian magazine rated each company on flexible schedules, good pay and benefits, employee development, interesting work, employee recognition, supportive managers, open communication and collegial staffs.
