Trivex® European market continues to expand.
PPG Industries, Inc. yesterday announced the results of a recent survey on the increase in sales of the lens material Trivex® since 2001, the year it was officially introduced to the market. The triple-performance® material is being even more successful throughout Europe: in Italy in particular - currently the main market for Trivex® - but also in France, the United Kingdom, Germany (where Nordhorn-Optik recently joined the network of laboratories which already distribute the material), Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands.
'Trivex® is an innovative material with excellent characteristics, such as superior optical quality and lightness, and guarantees greater safety as well as protecting from UV rays', declared Stefanie Kalkstein, Junior Director of Nordhorn-Optik. 'These characteristics convinced us to launch it on the market. As a laboratory, we always need to differentiate ourselves from our competitors and there can be no doubt that Trivex® allows us to offer our customers a new and better product with excellent characteristics'.
Currently, there has also been an increase in sales in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, where local opticians are extremely interested in Trivex®. For this reason, some local laboratories have recently introduced it to the market in Poland, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Serbia, Russia, Egypt, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Trivex® is the unique lens material which combines three excellent characteristics: extreme lightness, superior optical quality (Abbe value: 45) and strength. Moreover, at this time it is the ophthalmic lens material with the lowest density on the market (1.11). This, associated with excellent optics, allows us to offer lens wearers extreme comfort, excellent stability over time and shock-resistance, in addition to exceptional performance for rimless frames and excellent compatibility with lens coatings. Trivex® lenses do not provide the birefringence effect that is sometimes experienced with other materials. 'Because of these characteristics', stated John Liebenguth, Marketing and Sales Manager at PPG Optical Materials, 'we are certain that Trivex® is the best choice for many lens wearers and their increased level of satisfaction has fostered an increase in interest by opticians and laboratories all over the world'.
Trivex® characteristics make this material the ideal choice for prescription lenses with strengths of +4/-4, for lens wears of any age (from children to adults with an active lifestyle) and also for rimless frames. Since its introduction to the market, Trivex® lenses have been extremely popular also with end-users, who benefit from comfort and lightness, superior optical quality and strength for their day-to-day activities.
