Safilo: 'Sun & Fun 2007' convention at the Chia Laguna Resort, Sardinia
From September 5 through 9, the 6th edition of the Safilo Group's 'SUN & FUN' convention brought together operators from Italy and abroad in a prestigious location for the preview of the new Spring/Summer 2008 collections. The Chia Laguna Resort in the south of Sardinia provided the splendid backdrop for the event. Immersed in a luxuriant park that fringes one of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean and has an astounding view of a crystal-clear sea, the elegant and prestigious building with refined design and meticulous attention to detail was the location that provided a splendid welcome for the company's international guests.
The guest of honor at the convention was Marcello Lippi, the manager trainer who led the Italian football team to victory at the World Cup in Germany in 2006. During the morning of Friday, September 7, the former MT was the 'special' speaker who talked about the role he played in guiding the team toward a prestigious victory and illustrated the importance of team spirit in achieving the most ambitious aims.
The event within an event was the gala dinner on the evening of Friday, September 7: the beach restaurant hosted over 300 distributors and clients where waiters-cum-actors improvised exhilarating entr'acte caricatures and surprising conjuring shows. The evening ended with a performance by the 'Duo Microband' which entertained the audience with musical sketches.
Saturday night disco-fever atmosphere. The pool was the evocative setting for the highly successful fashion show. Set up for the occasion with black and white jute cushions for the guests and suspended silver catwalks, splendid, fascinating models in Seventies-style garments paraded to the disco-music beat of yesterday and today to present Safilo's new sunglasses. Reflecting the refined and exclusive collections made by the Padua-based company, the new glasses were enthusiastically received by an audience that particularly appreciated the fine design and top-quality materials.
