Roberto Cavalli presents new eyewear collection
Safaris and travel across the colonial atmosphere of magical Africa are re-proposed as the leitmotiv of the Roberto Cavalli S/S 2008 collection.
Sophisticated frames embellished with details inspired by the materials and shapes of jewelry.
Wide, exaggerated and wraparound, the front pieces are square with soft bases, 'full-screen' rectangular, round or drop shaped.
The colors for the new models are natural and soft and range from white to gold, from sand to horn, from wine-colored to brown and black. The internal surfaces of some frames are personalized with zebra or leopard prints.
The original workmanship of the glittery plastic creates shimmering, 'snakeskin' effects.
The details that characterize the new frames are:
- The snake, the company's historical symbol, sometimes appears more discreetly, sometimes more evident on almost all the models. It appears in the scale effect of the plastic; in the front pieces where it sinuously curves round the lenses; in the shape of the temples with pointed end pieces that look like the tail; in the nose pieces where a lacquered and precious snake joins the front piece to the temples. It is also on the temples of some of the metal models, where small intertwined snakes create a 'chain' effect.
- The RC monogram on the nose pieces, bridges or in the center of the front piece sometimes shimmers with little rhinestones. Numerous frames are identified by the Roberto Cavalli logo.
- New shapes for the temples: rounded in the center or horn shaped.
Model RC370S
Sunglasses frames in acetate and metal are large and squared-off but with rounded edges. Strong characterization comes from the combo front piece in contrasting colors: white and gold, black and rhodium, brown and pink gold, burgundy and pink gold. An original cut for the side section of the vision lenses, with the RC monogram in metal and rhinestones.
Model RC377S
For a real explorer who won't give up on a touch of glamour, this sunglasses frame is horn-inspired in color and the shape of the temples, which are joined to the front piece by the Roberto Cavalli logo.
Model RC380S
The lacquered and rhinestone-encrusted snake featured in this frame for women seems to come straight from Cleopatra's jewel box. The contrasting colors of white and black are separated by gold wire to create an original mosaic effect. The lenses are shaded and rimless.
