Ovidiu Silaghi: 'Sover example of Italy-Rumania cooperation'
'Sover is a more than positive example of the cooperation between Italy and Rumania and its presence in our country contributes to the development of the profitable relationships that are a pressing requirement, especially at this time of tension and uncertainty with Italy'. The words which Ovidiu Silaghi, the Rumanian Minister for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises, Commerce, Tourism and Professionals, addressed to Sover, the leading Italian company in the eyewear sector, in Bucharest for its annual convention which ended Sunday evening with a fashion show by Rumanian stylist Catalin Botezatu.
The Minister wanted to meet the Cannicci family which owns Sover and has a chain of wholly-owned stores in Rumania, Sover Optica Shop, and a company, Sover Rumania, that sells machinery and top-of-the-range lenses in addition to eyewear. Ovidiu Silaghi did not disguise his concern about certain fellow countrymen who prefer not to go to Italy after the Italian Government's recent decision following the murder of Giovanna Reggiani, and certain others who want to return to their native land as soon as possible.
The Minister expressed his encouragement and esteem for the Cannicci family because Sover went to Rumania as long ago as 1993 and, together with local personnel, it has achieved internationally recognized leadership. Paolo Cannicci also expressed his satisfaction with Sover's presence in Rumania and in East Europe with three commercial joint-ventures in Moscow, Bucharest and Prague, which guarantee ample coverage of a strategic and rapidly expanding distribution area. 'After almost half a century in business' - he said - 'our company continues to be oriented toward the production of quality eyewear and the expression of the best of Made in Italy's exclusive designs, materials and technologies'. After the meeting with Sover in Bucharest, the Minister left for Italy for a series of appointments with organizations to continue the profitable interface between the two countries.
