Oakley on track with Ducati
Oakley, Inc. has announced that the entire Ducati MotoGP and Superbike teams will wear Oakley sunglasses. The logo on helmets and racing apparel for the MotoGP and on windshields for the Superbike is also part of the sponsorship agreement.
'Oakley's alliance with Ducati is not surprising. Their approach to the construction of the best competition bikes in the world is the same as our approach to making the best-performing glasses on the market by combining top-quality materials with cutting-edge technologies based on standards of excellence,' stated Oakley, Inc. president Colin Baden. 'We share a history of aggressive, avant-garde design and a constant drive for raising performance levels.'
Baden also commented, 'Our partnership with Ducati began three years ago with limited editions of high-performance glasses. Authenticated with the logo of some of the fastest bikes in the world, the colors that symbolize these glasses - red and gray - pay tribute to the speed of innovation. The lenses are laser engraved with Italian engineering's symbol of excellence and they boast High Definition Optics® (HDO®), which make them ideal for sportspeople, worldwide.'
Taking the Oakley name to tracks all over the world are, for the Ducati MotoGP team, Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau, who have 4 and 9 wins, respectively, in the top GP category. Troy Bayliss, a Superbike Championship legend, and an upcoming Lorenzo Lanzi, who already has 2 victories in the bag, will be taking the Oakley brand to the Superbike circuits.
'We are happy about extending our collaboration with Oakley and it will certainly be advantageous for both our brands,' said the CEO of Ducati Corse, Claudio Domenicali. 'All over the world, Oakley is synonymous with style and sportsmanship and Ducati represents design excellence and extreme performance: the partnership between the two companies is the result of an almost spontaneous alliance and it is perfect from all angles.'
