Mido 2007: on target for a record edition
The 37th edition of Mido, the most important International Show of Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology in the world, which has not yet started, confirms the growth forecasts registering an outstanding + 14% net allocated exhibition space compared to 2006, 52,500 net square meters compared to about 46,000 in the last edition. It is an encouraging result, which rewards the choice to move the event to the new centre Fieramilano, in Rho-Pero. A choice dictated, first and foremost, by the desire to offer extra services to all of the exhibitors, which is confirmed, today, by the possibility of guaranteeing them the best space distribution and suitable visibility. Exhibitors who confirm the growth trend with an increase of +8% compared to last year.
Consequently, Mido 2007 looks set to become a record edition, a date for the whole world of eyewear, as well as the sector's international protagonists, a must to avoid missing crucial opportunities to meet and compare, which only Mido can offer.
Compared to the original fair layout, the 37th edition of Mido has added an extra hall, hall number 6, besides the halls, which are already included 1, 3, 2, 4, 5 and 7. One of this year's innovative features is the Mido Design Lab, an evolution of the area that was originally called Mido Trend, focusing exclusively on design prototypes and products, an important and exclusive exhibition showcase for companies selected by a special committee of experts. Arriving from the East Door, the entrance that is level with the red line of the underground station, right inside the fair, which also leads to Piazza Duomo, in the heart of the city center, are halls 1, 3 and 5, which will be for the manufacturing companies of frames and sunglasses; hall 2 for lens exhibitors; hall 4 for frames and international groups and hall 7 for Mido Design Lab and the Press Village. Hall 6 will be for Mido Tech, an area reserved for machinery and manufacturing companies of components, where there will also be a number of service areas, such as the Foreign Club.
'We are extremely satisfied with the new Mido's figures - declares Mido President, Cirillo Marcolin - and I would like to point out today, more than ever, that what seemed like just an advertising slogan, 'The New Mido' is enriched with meaning and confirmed by action. The 2007 edition was based on renewal, innovation and internationalization, with the new location first, and the expansion of the fair layout second, these were the first signs of our desire to change and of our great commitment. The trust of our exhibitors has been widely reconfirmed thanks to the many efforts made, and today we can already say that we are on target for a record Mido. We are working hard, with determination, to win over the approval of our visitors'.
Among the different events leading up to the Mido, from 4 to 7 May in Milan, one that is surely worth noting is the participation of the Show at the International Vision Expo East in New York.
And it is here, from 22 to 25 March 2007, that the 'New Mido' will start to take shape. Dictating the guidelines of this first step towards the future is famous designer, Vicente Garcia Jimenez, who has been commissioned to design and fit out the stand for the Show in the United States.
The result is a perfect blend of suggestive atmospheres, evoked by essential, clean, almost elementary shapes; a modular structure, conceived and designed as an art gallery where evocative images of Mido's new spaces alternate with visual concepts of strong impact.
