Lennon's glasses to be auctioned for New Orleans

John LennonThe classic round glasses with blue-tinted lenses will be sold at the Hard Rock Café in New York City. The charity auction was set up by U2 guitarist The Edge as part of a music re-launch project to help New Orleans following the devastation caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

John Lennon's glasses are part of a lot which includes other rare items donated by other big stars like Madonna, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin and Grateful Dead.

The Edge, whose real name is David Evans, offered his 1975 Gibson Les Paul guitar, which should fetch between 65 and 80 thousand euros.

Among the other rare items is a contract signed by Elvis Presley and a Bono Vox outfit by Emporio Armani.
