France opens its door to Trivex®
In 2002 PPG presented Trivex® lens materials. A brand new category, since its presentation the material has registered growing success in Europe both amongst laboratories and lens manufacturers who appreciate its extraordinary combination of exceptional optical properties, high impact resistance and extreme lightness. This opinion is shared by PPG's French partners as well - Novacel,Hoya Lens France , Laboratoire Ophtalmic and Simop - who are currently launching advertising campaigns aimed at promoting a series of Trivex products and raising awareness of the advantages this material can offer to opticians and consumers.
The French company Novacel was one of the first European labs to introduce Trivex lenses in 2002. PPG Industries' strong working relationship is set to be reconfirmed at Silmo where a Trivex Corner will be set up at the Novacel stand to give opticians the chance to evaluate lenses created using this material thanks to a demonstration of the grinding process. Opticians will also be offered a CD which contains a demonstration of Trivex® Grinding together with the latest Novacel catalogue complete with its entire range of Trivex products.
Hoya Lens France launched its Back to School 2007 campaign for PNX lenses last September, which focused specifically on Trivex's most important features: its great lightness (1.11 g/cm3) compared to other materials used to make lenses, thinness, exceptional optical qualities (Abbe number: 43), stress resistance and complete lack of birefringence as well as its great versatility with all types of frames, including rimless and semi-rimless models. As proof of its commitment to Trivex and PNX, Hoya is also planning to launch a new series of photochromatic progressive Transitions PNX lenses (Hoyalux Summit Pro, Hoyalux Summit CD e Hoyalux Wide) at its Silmo stand (Pavilion 1 - stand Q31-33).
Laboratoire Ophtalmic will also be presenting a new progressive, custom-made lens - Ophthalmic Code_P Trilogy (Trivex) - at Silmo to complete its range of Trivex products. These will combine sophisticated designs with a high performance material and are scheduled to be launched at the same price as the Ophthalmic Code_P in 1.60 MR8 and polycarbonate.
Lastly, the Simop Group specifically recommends Trivex lenses for children's glasses and sports glasses, as well as for rimless frames which require a very specific assembly technique as well as puncture resistance. As Xavier Lacroix - Head of Sales for the Ophthalmic Lens division - stated, 'Trivex provides an answer for all those who wear glasses and who believe that safety and optical quality are a key factor for lenses'. This is why the company will continue to offer its range of 12 Trivex lenses on the market. Simop has also announced that its One Day Service will include Trivex lenses in 2008 as well. Information on the material and on Trivex products can be downloaded from the company's website.
