Excellent results for Carrera Ski Racing Team at World Skiing Championships
The World Skiing Championships 2006/2007 ended last weekend at Åre in Sweden and the Carrera Ski Racing Team is looking with satisfaction at the numerous victories in the Alpine skiing disciplines by the athletes who took Carrera helmets and goggles to the top steps of the prestigious podiums.
Standing out in the women's categories is Sweden's Anja Paerson who won numerous victories on her native snow: on Tuesday, February 6, the skier dominated the opening Super-G, while on Friday, February 9, she took the top step of the podium in the combined. On Sunday, February 11, she won in the Free Downhill and, lastly, on Thursday 16, she came in third in the women's Slalom. It was a great championship for Anja Paerson who takes her place in history as the first skier to win the title in all five Alpine skiing disciplines.
Excellent results also in the men's races, with Italy's Manfred Moellg winning the silver medal for the Slalom on Saturday, February 17. Bruno Kernen from Switzerland came third and won the bronze medal for the Super-G on Tuesday, February 6, and Marc Berthod, also from Switzerland, won the bronze medal for the combined on Thursday, February 8.
The World Championships ended on Sunday, 18 February with the 'Team Event' in which athletes from each country, three men and three women, competed in the Slalom and Super-G. Anja Paerson, Anna Ottosson and Jens Byggmark won the silver medal for Sweden, and Marc Berthod won the bronze for Switzerland.
