Coming up to Mido 2007

Coming up to Mido 2007

The 37th edition of Mido, the most important International Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology Trade Fair in the world, is ready to become the most awaited event of the year. The signs are increasingly clear: the whole fair lay-out at the new fair in Rho-Pero, in Milan, was already full up by mid January, and the organizers are considering adding a new hall, i.e. hall 6, to guarantee an adequate distribution and visibility of the spaces at the fair.

Despite being preliminary, the figures show an increase of over 10% compared to 2006 in the assigned exhibition area, with a growth in the number of exhibitors attending from all over the world of 8% compared to the previous edition.

Mido will take up halls 1-3, 2-4 and 5-7, or rather the first 3 double halls, built on one level, entering from the east door, on the sane level with the underground station. Halls 1-3 and 5, in particular, will be home to the manufacturers of frames and sunglasses, whilst halls 2-4 will be divided between the lens exhibitors and international exhibitions; whereas hall 7 will hold the Mido Design Lab, the Press Village and the Press Office. All of the halls will also have new service or leisure areas, i.e. the Exhibitor's Lounge, at the exhibitors' complete disposal.
However, despite the great space offer and functionality of these new areas, the organization is considering extending the final lay-out of the event even further by adding hall 6 for Mido Tech, an area reserved for manufacturers of components and machinery, where a number of service areas will also be located, such as the Foreign Club and Vip Club Anfao.

There have been numerous requests for Mido Design Lab, the area that was once known as Mido Trend, which will solely focus on 'design' prototypes and products, starting from the next edition. A technical committee has already started to make a careful selection of the requests, and will only allow the most innovative eyewear manufacturers to access this area, in other words, companies at the forefront of research, experimenting with shapes, materials and colors.

'Mido needed to find a new location suited to its pattern of growth, to satisfy the new market needs - declared Cirillo Marcolin - President of the event - On an international level, the eyewear sector has shown it strongly believes in trade fairs as an opportunity for business and communication to launch its most innovative proposals. Thanks to the functional lay-out and availability of new customizable spaces, also for communication, Mido 2007 is the concrete answer to the sector's needs. We have gained the trust of our exhibitors, which is very important to us, now we are working to win over the approval of our visitors'.

From 4 to 7 May, in the new setting of Rho-Pero, characterized by the enormous sail designed by the architect Massimiliano Fuksas, which won the Europe Award for Excellence 2006, Mido will welcome the whole international eyewear community. For the occasion, the President of Mido and the organizing staff will welcome everyone taking part with an event of great international importance that will trace the glorious decades when the whole eyewear division succeeded in becoming established in the world with its best creations, dictating the pace of the latest trends with regard to design, style, research and innovation. Don't miss the event on the evening of Friday 4 May!
