Charmant Europe's 25 years

Charmant Europe's 25 years

A special year and an opportunity for the company to give thanks by donating For over half a century the Charmant Group has been successful in the worldwide optical market thanks to a pioneering commitment to researching and developing new technologies. Twenty-five years ago, Charmant set out on its road to success in Europe with a totally western approach that also remained true to its Japanese roots.   In 2012, Charmant is celebrating the European part of its soul by dedicating the year to "Japan meets Europe" theme.   The special year of its 25th anniversary is an opportunity for Charmant to give thanks by donating €1000 for every year that Charmant Europe has been in business. In response to the terrible tsunami that in 2011 wreaked havoc in northeastern Japan, Charmant has not forgotten its origins and has decided to support a project of "Kinderhilfswerk/KHW Global Care", a relief foundation that helps children who were orphaned by the catastrophe. The foundation helps in refugee camps by cooking meals, distributing aid, and cleaning and clearing the affected area. In addition to physical assistance, the relief foundation also provides psychological care to help victims overcome the shock. From this aspect, the most needy are the children who still have to learn how to cope with such a catastrophe. The funds raised by Charmant will be used to rebuild a preschool complete with furniture and restrooms at Kamaishi.   The symbol chosen by Charmant for the fundraising is typically Japanese: an origami in the shape of a crane to send these children a positive message of reconstruction, happiness and healing. The origami are handmade by Charmant Europe employees, their friends and families, its commercial partners, customers and their friends and families and they will be sold by Charmant during 2012 to reach the €25,000 target.   Irrespective of the number of cranes sold, Charmant Europe undertakes in any case to donate at least €25,000 to the "Kinderhilfswerk/KHW Global Care" foundation. Any other donations, irrespective of the origami initiative, will be much appreciated and should be made to: Charmant GmbH Europe.
