Sipao companies in South America
Since yesterday, five Sipao companies from Belluno have been on a mission to certain countries in South and Central America to meet buyers and businesspeople in Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
The first stage of the Mission is San Paolo, Brazil, one of the “BRIC” (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries that recorded good growth rates. Italian designers and brands are the market reference point.
A growth factor will be the introduction in 2013 of mandatory eye tests for school children and workers. The second stage will be Panama, where operators from other countries will also meet: Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador in South America, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama in Central America.
Although the market is extremely varied at present, the development of the eyewear sector is still led by Italian designers. “This is the first foreign mission that Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti has organized this year” said Maurizio Feltrin, head of Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti internationalization. “Our task is to enable companies to meet the economies and markets with interesting potential for development”.
Nadia Zampol participates in the mission with the dual role of owner of Martini Occhiali and delegate for Sipao internationalization, the section joining the eyewear companies that are members of Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti and one of the supporters of the commercial mission.
“Our hope”, explained Zampol, “is to capture the demand for Italian products that Brazilians will be expressing in the immediate future. We have a packed program of meetings with a very high number of operators: each company will meet the over 50 distributors, wholesalers, importers and entrepreneurs”.
The companies taking part in the mission are: G.B. of Auronzo di Cadore, Luxol of Lozzo di Cadore, Martini Occhiali of Lozzo di Cadore, Thema Optical of Domegge di Cadore, and Trevi Coliseum of Longarone.
