“Counterfeiting makes no sense”
Against the prestigious backdrop of Palazzo Ruspoli, the inauguration of the first exhibition devoted to the protection of Made in Italy takes place today with the aim of raising public awareness about counterfeiting.
The exhibition-event, which involves all the most prestigious and important brands in the fashion, luxury, toys, design and food sectors, intends to highlight the direct experience of individual companies by showing genuine products and their fake counterparts. All the material on display is about the history and development of the companies and their brands, patents or industrial property rights that have been infringed.
Organized by the Italian Ministry for Economic Development and Unioncamere, the exhibition is supported by Anfao, a testimony to its constant commitment to the fight against counterfeiting.
The collaboration between Anfao and the Ministry for Economic Development symbolizes the continuity of its commitment to the fight against counterfeiting. For some time now, the Association has been active in this regard and, together with said Ministry and Confindustria, it promoted a National Counterfeiting Day last July 7. This was an event specifically proposed by Anfao President, Vittorio Tabacchi, as a starting off point for numerous future initiatives raising the awareness of citizens and companies about this increasingly widespread phenomenon.
As far as the eyewear sector is concerned, Safilo, Luxottica and Look Occhiali, three Anfao member companies, will take part in the exhibition to talk about their experiences and commitment to fighting counterfeiting.
Other participants in the event will be the Italian Customs Agency (Agenzia delle Dogane), Tax Police (Guardia di Finanza), the Istituto Poligrafico Zecca dello Stato and Cattid – the Sapienza University of Rome.
The settings were created and set up by Gianni Quaranta who won an Oscar in 1986 for the movie “Room with a View” by James Ivory.
The exhibition is open from today at 6pm and every day through February 6 at Palazzo Ruspoli, 416 Via del Corso, Rome. Entrance is free.
