Second capsule collection for Vogue Eyewear
A few days ago, Luxottica announced the winners of the second annual Vogue Eyewear/CFDA capsule collection at the new Sunglass Hut flagship store in New York City.
The protagonists of the 2011 “City Collection” promoted by Vogue Eyewear and CFDA will be three of the most talented designers on the American scene. Each one will create a pair of sunglasses inspired by their love for the most special and fashionable cities in the world: Monica Botkier for Miami, Rebecca Minkoff for New York and Yeohlee Teng for Los Angeles.
The three designers were selected for the highly aesthetic quality of their designs and their strong desire to venture into lenses and frames. Vogue Eyewear, a brand renowned for its futuristic style at affordable prices, intentionally chose participants without any experience of the eyewear market so that they could propose an alternative point of view in the 2011 City Collection.
After passing the selection stage, Monica Botkier, Rebecca Minkoff and Yeohlee Teng were sent to the respective cities to look for inspiration. Their creative process was documented with the help of three authoritative bloggers in the fashion world. Aimee Song of “Song of Style” went to Miami to work with Monica Botkier, Natalie Suarez of “Natalie Off Duty” worked with Rebecca Minkoff in New York, and Jane Aldridge of “Sea of Shoes” went to Los Angeles to follow the work of Yeohlee Teng. In an attempt to document each single aspect of the creative process, video blogs were made and published to show clients and fans what happens behind the scenes and demonstrate what it means to conceive, create and produce a pair of practically perfect fashion eyeglasses.
