Rem eyewear appoints director of sunwear and accessories
REM Eyewear is pleased to announce the launch of a new accessories division spearheaded by Christopher Allen, an industry professional with extensive experience in the sunglass industry. As Director of Sunwear & Accessories, Allen will lead the charge for building a diversified sales channel for REM Eyewear outside of the optical arena, nurturing the company’s already rich relationships with national department stores and E-tailers. With powerful brands such as Converse, Lucky Brand and John Varvatos, Allen will craft specialty retail programs to capture key account business, instigate co-op programs and pursue private label efforts for exclusivity options.
Chris Allen comes to REM Eyewear with international experience, most recently from Mirage Eyewear in Varese, Italy, where he was the Director of International Sales, while also involved in product development and private label. Before working in Italy, Allen was with Mirage Eyewear in California, where he incrementally grew the business for four years. Previous to Mirage, Allen was a sales rep for Mountain Shades, and in a sort of a homecoming, he began his career right here at REM Eyewear in the sales force. A California native and graduate of the University of Denver, Allen holds a degree in International Business and Italian language.
Mike Hundert, REM’s Chief Executive Officer comments on Allen’s new appointment saying, “Our strategy is to expand our global distribution of sunglasses. We are investing in measures to ensure success, which we believe depends on great people. Chris fits that need with experience and insight in the sunglass business that will complement the core competencies of our team.”
REM Eyewear’s President Steve Horowitz adds, “Chris Allen will take us into the next phase of pursuing the growth of the sunglass channel of distribution, and will effectively round-out the business with a significant non-optical component.”
