Presentation in Venice of Persol 3-D Award 2011
The Persol 3-D Award at the Venice Film Festival 2011, which was won last year by “Avatar”, written and directed by James Cameron, and “Dragon Trainer” directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, this year went to Zapruder (David Zamagni, Nadia Ranocchi, Monaldo Moretti), a group of young Italian moviemakers that for years has been applying refined craftsmanship to exploring the possibilities of stereoscopic cinema.
The Persol 3-D Award 2011 was presented at a ceremony at the Lido during the 68th Film Festival (August 31–September 10, 2011). Also presented at the award ceremony were presented “Spell: The Hypnotist Dog” (2011) and “Spell: Suite” (2011), episodes of the new SPELL stereoscopic project by David Zamagni and Nadia Ranocchi, Zapruder authors and directors, and “Joule” (2010), the alter ego of the movie “All Inclusive” which premiered at last year’s Festival.
This year, the Persol 3-D Award went to Zapruder, a group of young Italian moviemakers whose production was distinguished by its originality, method and combination of visual, performing and cinematographic arts. Zapruder’s independent and artisan approach combined with research and the creative use of 3-D led to expanded movies in which the audience is immersed in perturbing tactile, visual and audio abysses. Persol’s Made in Italy research and craftsmanship adapt perfectly to the talent of the young moviemakers who received the award.
The collaboration between Persol and the Festival is the confirmation and renewal of the successful combination of the brand and the international world of the big screen.
Fabio d’Angelantonio, Chief Marketing Officer at Luxottica Group, stated: “We are proud to continue our successful collaboration with the Venice Biennial, which has been renewed for the seventh consecutive season. Specifically, for three years now, Persol has been developing support for cinematographic art by awarding creativity and innovation in three-dimensional cinema, a new, forward-thinking vision and the most exciting experience of the big screen.”
