Oakley 3D and “Tron: Legacy” together in US movie theaters
Oakley has produced a special edition to celebrate the distribution of “TRON: Legacy”, the eagerly-awaited 3D movie from Disney that opened in US movie theaters December 17.
“The first TRON: Legacy was an excellent opportunity for Oakley to allow movie-goers to experience the unique innovations of our line of 3D glasses", stated Oakley CEO Colin Baden.
"The collaboration with Oakley was an excellent occasion for Disney to interpret the aesthetics and themes of TRON: Legacy through leading-edge glasses that will, without doubt, captivate all audiences”, said Stephen Teglas, vice president and general manager of the Disney Consumer Products Division of Fashion & Home Nord America.
A symbol of Oakley’s distinctive style, the new “TRON” Limited Edition 3D Gascan line
stands out for graphics that pay homage to the history of cinema. The offer is completed with a personalized Microclear™ pack with a kit for cleaning the lenses and a glasses case.
“TRON” Limited Edition 3D Gascan has HDO-3D™ lenses, a new and exclusive collection used in the world’s* first optically correct 3D glasses. Oakley’s 3D lenses virtually eliminate ghosting and “crosstalk”, which frequently disturb the eyes and are potential problems with 3D glasses of inferior quality.
Another feature of Oakley 3D glasses is the curvature of the lenses. Greater curvature around the eyes gives a wider field of vision but less optical precision. Similarly, a slight curvature can give rise to distorted vision. Oakley’s technology ensures optical clarity to give the wearer sharp images and a wider field of vision. The curvature of Oakley 3D lenses also reduces glare from reflected light.
Another essential aspect of the new Tron Special Edition is comfort: the model rests only on the sides of the face and the nose and does not have to be hooked behind the ears like traditional glasses with curved temple ends.
