Luxottica: 50 years in grand style

Luxottica: 50 years in grand style

Leonardo del Vecchio, the man who transformed a company with only a few employees into an empire with facilities in Italy, the US, China and India, last Saturday celebrated Luxottica’s 50th anniversary in grand style.
A very special event, an evening that, in addition to a gala dinner, included a concert by maestro Ennio Morricone exclusively for the guests and the showing of a film about Luxottica made by Gabriele Salvatores.
The evening’s guests included Minister Maurizio Sacconi, who described the company as “a model for industrial relationships, a company in which hard work as well as results are shared”, referring to employee-oriented initiatives from integrated healthcare to the recent bonus in the form of shares that were given to all employees.
At the event many of the guests learned the history of the company through Del Vecchio’s words from its origins to the present day’s empire with annual billings of almost 6 billion euros.
The evening was hosted by Vanessa Incontrada, who celebrated Luxottica’s anniversary at the side of president, Leonardo Del Vecchio, CEO, Andrea Guerra, and vice president, Luigi Francavilla.
Also to honor this important milestone, a splendid monument was commissioned and unveiled during the event: seven-meter-high Ray-Ban Wayfarer eyeglasses signed and created by artist Franco Fiabane and positioned at the entrance to the headquarters in Agordo.
This really special evening with meticulous attention to the smallest detail was brought to a close with an awesome fireworks display and the spotlights at the facility in Agordo formed the outline of a pair of eyeglasses and shone throughout the night.
