Glassing talks to Mido365
At the 2011 edition of Silmo we interviewed Matteo Maragnano for Glassing, the company that is making its debut this year in Paris.
Can we begin by talking about figures? What is your view of the situation in the sector at this point in 2011? Can you give us some of your company’s figures for the first 6 months of the year?
The first six months of 2011 were very satisfactory for us. We are improving our understanding of the mechanisms that regulate the eyewear market so that we can be prepared and ready for the future. In the previous season we sold 20,000 pairs of eyeglasses distributed equally throughout Italy.
Silmo. What does this exhibition represent for you? What do you expect from this edition of the fair in France?
It is our first time at Silmo and just like all first times we are full of curiosity and healthy energy. Commercially-speaking, I think that all our lines will do very well considering our previous experience of trade and fashion exhibitions, a success for all lines.
As far as products are concerned, what new ones will you be presenting at Silmo? What do you think your top model will be for next season? What is the color for this fall/winter?
At Silmo we will present three new models and four from the previous season that have been revisited. We are counting on SWING, eyeglasses with soft, rounded lines that were very popular at the London preview in July. Without doubt, our fall/winter color is sage.
The coming season is packed with appointments, especially at international level. Which ones will you be attending in the coming months?
We are still evaluating and scheduling many of the events, but we will certainly be at London Fashion Week in September 2011; Bread&Butter in January 2012; Mido in March 2012; Sonar Barcelona Festival in June 2012.
As always, Mido will be held in March: will your company be there?
Yes, certainly. We hope that things will begin well at Silmo and end in grand style at Mido back home!
