Research, experimentation, design: Frency&Mercury presents the European preview of the 2011 eyewear collection. Not simply eyeglasses, but distinctive objects with character. The materials represent the added value, but creativity and inspiration are the real essence.
Frency&Mercury, the eyewear brand created by Japanese designer Eque M., class of 1980, includes vision and sun models. These are real collector’s items with a refined heart conceived and created for lovers of all things beautiful who are always on the lookout for niche objects and brands.
The 2011 spring/summer collection (6 sun and 3 vision models) is focused on innovative ultra-light and modern materials, and on lines inspired by the colors and atmosphere of New Mexico. Reminiscent of the Eighties, the sun models have the irresistible appeal of classic aviator shapes and drop lenses (Ace) for him and her, or squarer shapes (Formula) in titanium with anti-reflective polycarbonate lenses. Also in pure titanium, Matador has a golden look with shaded lenses and is part of the Luxury Line that boasts special crafting of the titanium to increase flexibility while remaining lightweight and non-allergic. The acetate models (in seasoned Japanese acetate) feature large lenses with a “diva” look. Generous and wraparound, Sweet Baby comes in trendy colors. The vision models are sharp and generous for a perfect Nerd Style that’s vivaciously classy!
Made entirely by hand, Frency&Mercury eyewear undergoes long and meticulous crafting to give it a very high standard of quality with precious details.
The choice of materials is also an indication of extreme attention to detail: from seasoned Japanese acetate to pure titanium, from 18k gold to silver. Every model must be exclusive and distinctive.
“Like Japanese tradition, I also love details and manufacturing perfection”, explained Eque M. “The details are what make the difference. Behind each pair of eyeglasses in the collection lies care and precise workmanship taken to excesses” to make every pair unique and unrepeatable.
“My philosophy is that eyewear, whether sunglasses or prescription, is not simply an accessory”, Eque continued. “It is a projection of our personality and as such it must express it and, better still, enhance it. The basic concept of Frency & Mercury is ‘Be as lovely as only you know how…’. The aim of my creations is to make wearers glamorous, but also to mirror their inner charm”.
