“Eyeglasses and Such” in Venice

On September 2, at 11:30 AM, Palazzo Balbi in Venice will be the venue of a press conference to trace the history of eyeglasses from their origins until today. For this meeting, organised by ANFAO and MIDO in collaboration with the Eyeglasses Museum in Pieve di Cadore, Certottica, Unioncamere, and the Veneto Region, Cavaliere del Lavoro Vittorio Tabacchi will present the new book entitled “Eyeglasses and Such”, a tool that will enable visitors to follow the entire history of eyewear from its dawning through the pieces of the Museum. Moreover, during the press conference will be presented the second edition of Venezia Fashion Night, the fashion show to be held on Saturday, September 3, beginning at 9 PM on the beach of the Hotel Excelsior at the Lido in Venice. This event, aimed at celebrating eyewear as a fashion accessory, is part of a sector promotion project, during which the President of ANFAO and MIDO will present 2011 first semester figures. The final theme to be discussed during this meeting concerns consumer protection and health care. Luigino Boito, Director General of Certottica, and Floriano Pra, President of Certottica, will present an agreement stipulated between Certottica and UnionCamere for the fight against the quickly spreading phenomenon of counterfeiting.   Friday, September 2, a journey through history, fashion, health, and consumer protection
