De Rigo, new products and enthusiasm for 2011

Many new products and huge enthusiasm for the near future. This is how De Rigo was presented at MIDO 2011. Acting as spokesperson, Barbara De Rigo, responsible for the Veneto-based industry’s house brands, pointed out that “2010 was a record year for us so, albeit with due caution, we are starting 2011 with a good dose of enthusiasm”.

“Last year” – she explained – “we paid maximum attention to costs and we had very prudent stock management, but investments in the various brands in the portfolio were, and will continue to be, very important. Our brand portfolio allows us to be in all market segments and to mold our offer to suit different countries”.

The future of eyewear? “It’s difficult to predict” – Barbara De Rigo replied – “despite globalization, some countries are so different that ad hoc strategies have to be studied”. And the opportunities for development? “Because we were born and raised as a sun company, the vision segment is certainly an opportunity for very important development and it is already giving considerable satisfaction. Then there are certain fast expanding markets, such as China, Brazil and Turkey, which are already giving excellent results”.

But in the meantime, there is MIDO and all the expectations it brings. “MIDO gives us the opportunity to show all our aspects and to let people know more about us nationally and internationally; not only direct operators but also the press and therefore the general public”.

Let’s talk about the main new products De Rigo is presenting here. “We have many new products: from the already much-copied mirrored blue lenses that the POLICE brand launched in the ‘80s, to super-refined vintage models by LOZZA, the first Yamamay vision collections for STING and BLUMARINE, the future-chic models by Givenchy created by the skilful hands of Tisci, to gem eyewear by Chopard”.

What will next season’s color be? “What do you mean? Blue, of course!!” Barbara De Rigo immediately replied, obviously referring to the mirrored blue lenses by POLICE. But she added: “There are also skilful combinations of color and eyewear in multilayer plastic that is daring without being over the top”.
