Cirillo Marcolin new president of FIAMP

The Board of Governors of the Italian Federation of Fashion and Personal Accessories (FIAMP) has elected Cirillo Marcolin, Vice President of ANFAO and MIDO delegate, as its president for the next two years.
FIAMP unites all the companies in the world of accessories - a fashion item that is the outcome of considerable attention to detail deriving from the creativity and expertise of companies that have one aim: to express the excellences of Made in Italy in the best way possible. Currently, it includes Aimpes (leather goods), Anci (footwear), Anfao (eyewear), Federorafi (goldsmiths-jewelry) and AIP (furs).

The main aim of the Federation is to support the many sectors in this project for synergic promotion. An aim that takes on even more importance in the light of the particular economic situation: after a difficult two years, recovery has begun and it looks promising, despite certain uncertainties that still remain. It is this context that makes it essential to support FIAMP’s different sectors: recovery must be facilitated and the potential of Italian entrepreneurs must be fostered. Marcolin’s priorities will certainly include protecting Italian creativity and supporting companies by more synergic actions among segments but also, and primarily, through the support of the institutions with a project that binds the territory more closely to the associations’ representative exhibitions.

The city of Milan must make a greater commitment to adding value to the exhibition system for fashion accessories in addition to Milano Fashion City which, from a simple a slogan, has become a project conceived by the Chamber of Commerce together with the City Council and the Chamber of Fashion. It is important to remember that in 2010 the four exhibitions, Mido (eyewear), Micam (footwear), Mifur (furs) and Mipel (leather goods), occupied a total exhibition area of 156,000 square meters net, they were visited by over 160,000 buyers from all over the world (on average, 50% of the visitors were from abroad), and the exhibiting companies at the 4 exhibitions totaled over 3,300. These figures demonstrate that accessory exhibitions have a significant overall effect on the city as they attract the same number of people as that of the entire fashion week.

These considerations must represent the starting off point for a synergic project that links accessories shows even more to the city of Milan, thus creating a “virtuous” cycle that enhances all the players, strengthens business opportunities on the one hand and, on the other hand, gives prestige to the locations that host them.
