Certottica: the importance of the metallographic laboratory
For companies, Certottica represents an invaluable source of information about standards, technology and science. The Institute’s four main activities are certification, standardization, research and training. These areas also include a variety of activities developed over time to meet the needs of the business world and the changes in the market brought about by natural evolution.
Its services have increased, its laboratories have been expanded. They include a metallographic laboratory that offers companies a benchmark for technological problems related to industrial activities and the specific chemical, physical and mechanical features of metals.
It performs the two-fold action of checking product quality and guaranteeing the accurate results.
The tests performed by the metallographic laboratory can be used for:
-Classifying materials
-Checking soldering
-Structural studies
-Characterization of metals
-Analyzing defects
The service is provided for raw metals and for finished or semi-finished metal products with or without protective and/or surface decoration treatments.
The laboratory has interesting equipment such as shears, a mounting press, a lapping machine, and a scanning electron microscope, which is used for morphological analyses, defect analyses, semiquantitative analyses, deterioration phenomena, and surface mapping.
