Certottica and Dolomiticert are Guardia di Finanza references for monitoring markets
Watchword: market vigilance. The Guardia di Finanza (Italy’s Financial Guard) and certification institutes Certottica and Dolomiticert are drafting the general lines of a possible protocol of understanding aimed at monitoring markets and protecting consumers and the companies that operate correctly.
This first essential step for safeguarding the economy was taken during a visit by Colonel Francesco Mora, the Provincial Commander of the Belluno Guardia di Finanza at Longarone, who was received by the President of Certottica and Dolomiticert, Floriano Pra, and the General Manager, Luigino Boito. Accompanied by Major Francesco Sodano, Commander of the Nucleo Polizia Tributaria of Belluno, and Captain Luigi Mennella, Commander of the Belluno Company of the Guardia di Finanza, the Colonel was able to personally verify the laboratories’ various fields of action and the possibilities offered by the training and research areas as part of a possible collaboration.
“Our main reason for making this visit” – Mora stated – “is our interest in having a third-party reference in the territory whose expertise, seriousness and professionalism can support the Guardia di Finanza’s actions for controlling counterfeiting and product safety.”
Apart from the problems associated with CE marking, for some time now the Guardia di Finanza has been on the lookout for counterfeit brands and optical products made from materials that could be toxic and, therefore, dangerous.
At this point, the next step could be a protocol of understanding with the national trade associations. The aim would be to provide monitoring staff with technical and regulatory training, to carry out tests quickly, and to offer easy terms for the service.
