Certottica and Accredia: two important names in 2011

Certottica and Accredia: two important names in 2011

For some time Certottica has been taking steps to accredit its test reports in order to increase their quality and offer greater guarantees for product commercialization. Accredited by whom? And why? We would like to answer these questions that immediately spring to mind by explaining the meaning of having many tests accredited by Accredia, the only national body authorized by the State to perform the function of accreditation.

Accredia was set up in December 2009 by the merger of Sinal and Sincert as a nonprofit association. With ACCREDIA, Italy complied with European Parliament and Commission Regulation no. 765 of July 9, 2008, which has been applied for the accreditation and supervision of the market in all EU countries since January 1, 2010. All European countries have their own accreditation authority. The national Authority is responsible for accreditation in conformity with ISO 17000 international standards, guidelines and EN 45000 harmonized European standards.

Accredia evaluates the technical competence and professional suitability of conformity evaluation operators (laboratories and entities) and ascertains that they comply with mandatory rules and voluntary standards to ensure the value and credibility of certification. Accreditation is a service performed in the public interest so that when businesses, end consumers, and also public administrations use outside suppliers, they can rely on the quality and safety of the goods and services through to the last links of the production and distribution chain in an increasingly globalized market.

Accreditation guarantees that the test and inspection reports and certifications (of systems, products and personnel) stamped by Accredia have been issued in compliance with the strictest international requirements for the evaluation of conformity and with constant and rigorous monitoring of the operators responsible (laboratories and entities).
