Best Under The Sun by Polaroid is here
Since Edwin Land invented the world’s first polarized sun lens at the beginning of the 20th century (in 1929 to be exact), Polaroid Eyewear has always been at the leading edge of optical technology and has guaranteed total protection as well as the very latest styles.
Now all its experience and creativity have come together in a new Polaroid world, the Best Under The Sun Collection. This collection of sunglasses is a return to some of the most iconic Polaroid models from the ’30s to the ’80s, but now in lightweight, avant-garde materials and with Polaroid UltraSight™ lenses: a combination of vintage style and technology to offer the best in optical quality and total UV protection with anti-reflection lenses.
“This surprising collection is the best expression of all the distinctive qualities of Polaroid and the brand’s achievements in promoting lens technology and eyewear design since 1937,” said Jerry Dreifuss, Global Marketing Manager at Polaroid Eyewear.
“Polaroid’s tradition is incomparable in the eyewear market. One of the reasons why we have been so successful is that we have always worked with excellent partners in the optical world to combine fashionable design with high technology products of excellent quality. The Best Under The Sun Collection represents the pinnacle of our expertise and experience and underscores the uniqueness of Polaroid in an elegant and commercial product.”
The Best Under The Sun Collection includes ten models inspired by historical Polaroid shapes from the ‘30s to the ‘80s. Each pair is faithful to the details of the originals but in the very latest high-tech materials. Available in two different colors, every model tells an extraordinary story and perfectly reflects the dominant concepts of the time.
Polaroid Eyewear Global Design Manager Beat Christ said: “With its round shape and soft colors, Swing celebrates the style of the ‘30s and conjures up the sophisticated musical “Top Hat”, with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and the glamorous fashions of those years. Victory represents the ’40s and the first radical change to the classic drop lenses in a rigid and functional design. For the ’50s and the height of showbiz style, models Marilyn and Broadway are two cat eye frames with splendid details. The Summer of Love days of 1967 live again in the generous shapes and graduated lenses of Memphis, whereas everything changes to a more sparkling style for the ‘70s collection of three models, Donna, Flower and Rebel. The Best Under The Sun Collection is completed with Image and Glam, two large-size models in bright colors and with graduated lenses that conjure up the eccentric look of the ‘80s.”
The Best Under The Sun Collection instantly encapsulates the entire Polaroid Eyewear story: the technology of polarized lenses, optical quality and fashionable design… all at affordable prices.
