Bari: counterfeit eyeglasses impounded

Italian Tax Police (Guardia di Finanza) impounded about 150,000 pairs of prescription eyeglasses at Bari. Ten non-EU nationals were arrested at the end of a health protection operation.

The seized models were off-the-shelf reading glasses with a diopter of +4.00, which the law states can be sold only by qualified opticians.

The alleged offences are practicing without an optician’s license and commercial fraud.
