'All Accessories' in New York City

For Italian accessories the black year seems to have been relegated to the attic, at least as far as exports to the United States are concerned: in the first eleven months of 2010, footwear, eyewear, leather goods and fur recorded a 15.2% increase in exports to the US for a total value of over two billion dollars.
The figures were announced by Aniello Musella, Director of the Italian Trade Commission for North America, at the press conference held for the presentation of the All Accessories fair in New York City.
The event taking place in Milano/Rho March 4 through 9 takes a 360-degree look at Made in Italy accessories by bringing together Italy’s four main exhibitions: Mido, Micam, Mipel and Mifur (eyewear, footwear, leather goods and fur).
''The accessories fair”, explained Federica Andreoli, representative of FIAMP, the Italian Federation of Fashion and Personal Accessories, “comes immediately after Milan fashion week and is a combination of the four most important exhibitions featuring accessories. A single showcase for products that are no longer of secondary importance but necessary for people’s look.”
The accessories sector in the United States is experiencing a renaissance in the wake of the 2009 crisis. ''Italy has been confirmed as the top country for exports to the US of accessories in the luxury segment”, Musella underscored. “Compared to 2009, in 2010 footwear recorded an increase of 17% (equal to 816 million dollars), eyewear +20% (582 million dollars), leather goods +7% (530 million dollars), fur and tanned leather +22% (138 million dollars)''.
