The start of the Milan fashion shows
The fashion shows began yesterday at the Milano Fashion Center with the cutting of the ribbon by Mario Boselli, president of the Fashion Chamber, and Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, councilor for culture at Milan City Council, to endorse the alliance between fashion and culture in the capital city of Lombardy.
“The conditions for recovery exist”, Boselli told reporters at the inauguration of Milano Moda Donna, which has 5% more collections in its calendar.
“On the eve of a new round of shows, there has been interest by foreign markets that wasn’t there a few weeks ago”, assured Boselli, convinced that the crisis had reached rock bottom and that a slight recovery could be seen as early as the second quarter of the year.
“There are factors that suggest an improvement in conditions, such as a favorable euro/dollar exchange rate, the reduction in the cost of raw materials and weaker competition from China”, the president of the Chamber stated.
“In this context, creativity and innovation are more than ever essential premises Italian stylists must apply to induce buyers”, he added. Boselli also mentioned the Chamber’s commitment to ensuring the essential generational change by shining the spotlight on young people through initiatives like the Fashion Incubator and Next Generation.
Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, councilor for culture at Milan City Council, presented the Via Montenapoleone initiative aimed at energizing the fashion Quadrilateral in the evening "to send a strong message to anyone who says that this area is alive during the day, but dead at night".
