Safilo at 2008-2009 World Ski Championships

The 2008/2009 World Ski Championships drew to a close this weekend in Val d’Isère (France). The Carrera Ski Racing Team was pleased with the successes achieved in various alpine skiing disciplines by its athletes, who wore Carrera helmets and goggles on the top steps of prestigious podiums.

Standing out in the men’s classifications was Switzerland’s Carlo Janka, class of 1986, who won the giant slalom at Val d’Isère. Janka had a clear win over all his rivals and on the second run beat Raich (Austria) by over half a second and an excellent Ligety (US) by one second. In the downhill freestyle, which was fairly difficult because of constantly changing visibility, Janka gained an excellent third place Saturday, 7.

Excellent results also in the women’s races with Austrian Andrea Fischbacher winning the bronze medal in the Super-G Tuesday, February 3, and Austria’s Elisabeth Goergl coming in third to pick up the bronze in the Super Combined Tuesday, February 6.

Essential for ensuring athlete safety during their incredible performances, Carrera helmets and goggles were worn by the Carrera Ski Racing Team for all the races.
