New additions to Adidas Originals available in November
Available in stores since November 2009, the new sun models Condes and Abasto by Adidas Originals are unique because of their trendy, young and metropolitan design. Condes’ butterfly shape captures a retro look of the ‘60s with the Zeitgeist climate of urban cities. By contrast, the design of Abasto takes its inspiration from the ’70s, with unadorned masculinity as its distinctive feature.
Condes: Willy Wonka meets “Sanhattan”
The new Condes model by Adidas Originals combines the hippie charm of the ‘60s with the lifestyle of young protagonists of the 21st century. The frame’s feminine shape and retro look is inspired by the community in the modern district of Las Condes in Santiago, Chile. A place where suburban villages have been replaced recently by glass office towers and modern apartments. The district has grown rapidly to become a quarter with a wealth of bars and ultra-modern restaurants, where successful young people are discovering a new lifestyle. In no other place can the Zeitgeist climate be felt more strongly than in Sanhattan and the new Condes eyewear captures this feeling in a mixture of modernity and ‘60s style.
At the same time, the round design and the shaded colors of the lenses combined with the romantic color of the frame conjure up Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. The colored line on the top part of the frame adds an amusing touch of lightness.
Abasto: retro masculinity
By contrast, the new Abasto model by Adidas Originals is the epitome of the classical Adidas look of the ’70s. And it’s no coincidence that the model immediately calls to mind the Adidas’ legendary blue tracksuit with the vertical white stripes.
Today, artists, musicians and gallery owners are a permanent presence in the famous Mercado de Abasto in the fashionable Abasto district of Buenos Aires. An ever-increasing number of hotels and designer boutiques are opening alongside museums, galleries and studios. The retro style of Abasto by Adidas Originals perfectly interprets the look and inspiration of this Bohemian quarter.
