Milano Moda Donna: figures and events
186 collections, 88 shows (nine labels have two shows) for 79 brands, and 129 presentations (54 by appointment) for a total of 53 brands. This is the official calendar February 25 through March 3, plus an extra event March 4, for Milano Moda Donna which sets the stage for the new prêt-à-porter fall/winter 2009/2010 collections.
Compared to the last winter season’s 103 shows for 95 brands, there is a slight downturn in the number of events, but it is still unknown how many international operators will decide to take part despite a fairly uninspiring economic situation.
As usual, on the first day all eyes will be on the runways at the New Upcoming Designers-Next Generation and Regeneration shows. Thursday, 26, will be the turn of the first big names, with Moschino Cheap and Chic and the two shows by Emporio Armani and Missoni.
The first line from king Giorgio will be shown the following day, Friday, 27. Also scheduled for this date are Gianfranco Ferré, Burberry Prorsum, Alberta Ferretti and Jil Sander. The collections by Bottega Veneta, Blumarine, Emilio Pucci, Moschino, Gucci, Alessandro Dell’Acqua and others will be shown on Saturday, February 28, with Marni, Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo and Prada programmed for Sunday, March 1. The penultimate day of fashion week, Monday, March 2, will be dedicated to names like John Richmond, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace. The labels appearing on the last day, Tuesday, 3, include Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Mila Schön and, last on, Carlo Tivioli.
Although there will be no shows March 4, the Milano Fashion Center on Via Gattamelata will be open and will be giving a "fashion party".
As always, there will be numerous fringe events. These include a one-man show by Iranian-German artist Shirana Shahbazi Thursday, 26, at the Cardy Black Box, and, at the Palazzo della Ragione, a preview of the “Extreme Beauty in Vogue” photographic exhibition March 3 to accompany the launch of Dolce&Gabbana’s The Make Up.
