Marcolin and Timberland together for the environment
By planting three-thousand trees in the Fontanili Park at Rho in the province of Milan October 23, Marcolin gave its tangible support to the “Plant One On Us” program promoted by Timberland (Marcolin holds the license for its eyewear) and Legambiente (the environmental league).
A marathon in support of the environment began April 22, 2009, on international Earth Day, when Timberland renewed its partnership with Legambiente. Since then, more than one million trees have been planted, worldwide, and the event last Friday marked a new and important stage: 3,500 trees were planted in an area that until recently had been in a state of decline, but has now been reclaimed. It is also the site of one of the most monumental water complexes that is still active and provides irrigation for a vast agricultural area.
Marcolin has embraced the US company’s eco-friendly policy not only by contributing to planting new trees, but also by developing 2 models of prescription eyeglasses and one sunglasses model made entirely from eco-compatible materials like bamboo, titanium and recycled injected plastic. They will be presented in March 2010 at Mido, the international eyewear fair.
Featuring a metal tag with the distinctive “Earthkeepers” logo, the models will come in a case made from Jacroki, a patented, exclusive material with an ecological DNA because it is composed mainly of natural and recycled paper fibers.
