Eyewear is followed by hats with the Italia Independent label
Being launched officially at Pitti Immagine Uomo is the partnership between Lapo Elkann and Borsalino for new cult headgear: hats with the Italia Independent label. The historical 150-year-old hat brand and the young style-project brand founded by a member of the Agnelli family, have combined tradition and creativity in three special Borsalino models with the I-I label.
The first of these icons is a felt hat that takes seven weeks to make and is perfected only after 72 stages. It can be folded to fit into a pocket and comes in color combinations such as blue klein and azure, brown and purple, lavender and raspberry red.
The second model is in Cordura®, the same fabric used for the tuxedo. Italia Independent’s icon jacket is presented this year in an even softer and lighter version, thanks to the innovative working of the Cordura®, and is proposed for this season also with an original three-dimensional fabric from Gaetano Rossini Holding SpA in a world exclusive for I-I.
The third is in woolen cloth with Italia Independent exclusive patterns inspired by Seattle’s grunge style and the brand’s pea coat.
The successful collaboration with Arfango, the handmade footwear brand from Tuscany, also continues with the development of new driving shoes with sheepskin interiors and with special soles used in extreme sports.
"With the new and unique items presented at Pitti, Italia Independent continues its search with even richer moods where tradition and innovation combine", explained I-I president Lapo Elkann
The fashion proposals for 2009-2010 continue with the contemporary revamping of some of its icon garments: the tuxedo jacket is joined by the pea coat, the classical outdoor jacket with six buttons brought up-to-date with new shapes and more urban-style designs. The year, Italia Independent also has three-piece tailor-made suits featuring British fabrics by Holland & Sherry, and technical linings for action sport garments.
