Eyesway interviews the president of Pramaor
Well-known on the national and international scene, Pramaor operates in the optics sector and is preparing for huge success following the presentation of its new sun collections with the Blackfin and Bioeyes labels.
It was when a new line was being launched that we asked Pramaor president Nicola Del Din for his opinion on the state of the sector in the light of the global economic crisis of the past year and how it has affected his company.
“Obviously, we felt the crisis and, objectively-speaking, the current state of the market is still serious. But I am genuinely convinced that the difficult time the market has experienced will lead to a positive reaction and new opportunities. At least, this is what has happened in Pramaor. The crisis was certainly the main motivation behind dedicating all our energy and passion to providing our customers with titanium eyewear with excellent design, quality production and, in addition, after-sales service. Aiming at these consolidated elements with decisiveness is giving significant results. During the first 9 months of 2009 there was a strong increase in the sales of our house brands and it confirmed our initial expectations. We are scheduling actions for the new year with considerable optimism and enthusiasm.”
The Blackfin line includes sun frames with unusual names that conjure up distant and memorable islands: Vulcano, Sardinia, Cayman and Salina. The models feature front pieces in titanium made from a single sheet and ultra-slim temples in beta titanium. The Blackfin line has very strong nylon sun lenses of excellent optical quality to give wearers not only a very personal style, but also adequate sight protection. Pramaor also presented the Aria Sun and Fly Sun models which are part of the Bioeyes sun collection. The former has a glasant frame in very rare and ultra-slim (0.5mm thick) beta titanium sheet. The latter model features a glasant frame in beta titanium with top-injected rubber temples.
“We are really pleased about our sun collections”, said Nicola Del Din. “With Blackfin and Bioeys we were able to combine highly technological production with artisan attention to detail to create models that are, without a doubt, elegant, lightweight and easy to wear. It won’t take long before they captivate the eyewear market thanks to their innovative and original characteristics”.
We asked Mr. Del Din about his expectations for the new line and the markets in which Pramaor expects that, initially at least, the new collection will take off faster. “Obviously, we expect major results from mature markets that appreciate these qualitative and technological aspects, such as northern Europe and Japan. But I am totally convinced that in times like the present, quality, speed and service will open up any market”.
At what fairs can we expect to see Pramaor in the coming months? Nicola Del Din stated “At MIDO without a doubt, because there can be no question that it is the sector’s main reference point. We will evaluate whether to allocate further resources to more specific targets, such as the Vision Business Forum in Rome or ad hoc shopping days, instead of minor fairs.
