Eyesway interviews Dirk Bikkembergs

The event held friday night at the newly-opened Bikkembergs store in Milan was a huge success. From 7 pm onward, the event organized to present the first Dirk Bikkembergs Sport Couture eyewear attracted many people to Via Manzoni to visit the outlet and see the new eyewear.
For the occasion, Eyesway asked Dirk Bikkembergs a few questions to satisfy curiosity about the world economic situation in various sectors and also simply to find out his opinion about “glasses” as an accessory.

What’s your relationship with glasses?
Excellent. I love wearing glasses in any weather conditions.

Apart from being a necessary tool, have glasses become a real fashion accessory? What’s your opinion?
Yes, absolutely. It’s an accessory that has rightly entered the fashion world and it is essential for completing a wardrobe.
Our events and fashion shows always feature soccer players and we love to complete their look with sunglasses. Guys definitely become more sexy and mysterious.

What is the forecast for the entry of Bikkembergs eyewear?
Our Bikkembergs eyewear has been around for several seasons and it’s produced by Allison. For the first and only top model in the Dirk Bikkembergs Sport Couture line we are certainly not aiming at extensive commercial distribution. It’s a very special and expensive product. Absolutely dedicated to eyewear connoisseurs.

What’s your opinion about the current global economic crisis? What repercussions have there been for your sector?
I believe and hope that it is only a temporary crisis. Fortunately, at the moment we have not felt any huge repercussions. It’s quite a happy moment for us.

Tell us something about the opening of the new store
It has been my dream for many years and now that it has been achieved I am really happy.
It’s a concept store that shows the home of a sportsman. This magnificent space of 1300 square meters is where I have been able, finally, to enclose my entire world.
