Certottica: inclusion of goldsmith sector

The Institute’s presence at the World Gold Fair is obvious proof that innovation and technology do not belong only to specific sectors, but involve and drive all the economy’s manufacturing and industrial sectors.

With its “Dolomiticert2” project Certottica aimed at creating synergies in the Veneto region’s major production districts and allow the eyewear and goldsmith districts to interconnect.

Financed by the Veneto Region in collaboration with the Belluno Chamber of Commerce and the Laboratorio Saggio Metalli Preziosi, the initiative has enabled the specifics of certain materials to be described and the implementation of a measuring procedure for gold alloys.

The results of the project have been summarized in a brochure entitled “What color is your jewel: a guide for manufacturers” and it is a useful tool that identifies and describes alloys.

The purpose of the work was not only to create a guide with indications and/or information for users that would enable them to become familiar with the world of colorimetry applied to gold alloys, but also to fill a gap created by the lack of a regulation framework and scientific publications on the subject.

Research has allowed Certottica’s consolidated experience and expertise to extend its catchment area to include the precious metals sector and to lay the foundations for future collaborations.
