Roberto Vedovotto collects MF Fashion award

Roberto VedovottoThe Milano Fashion Global Summit, taking place yesterday and today at Palazzo Mezzanotte, will see the presentation of the MF Fashion Awards 2003 for managers, designers, companies, buyers and entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves during the year.

The jury considered one of the winners, Roberto Vedovotto, chief executive officer of Safilo, to be the most promising manager of the year. With his major international merchant banking background, Vedovotto is now at Safilo, where, amongst other things, he immediately obtained the license agreement with Giorgio Armani, whose eyewear business is worth 240 million euros.

Armani, on the other hand, collected the best brand strategy award thanks to innovative initiatives, such as the retrospective of the stylist's 30 years of work on exhibition in Berlin.

The other award winners were: Miuccia Prada (stylist of the year), Viktor & Rolf (most promising stylist), Burberry (company of the year), Franco Buccoleri - Capucci (entrepreneur of the year), Bulgari (headline of the year), Spa Gianfranco Ferré (most innovative store), Jimmy Choo (women's footwear), Hogan (men's footwear), Yves Saint Laurent (accessories), Ermenegildo Zegna (fabrics), Sugar (best buyer), Unione Industriali Biella (best communication idea), Tiffany & Co. (jewelry).
