'Earth from the Air' goes to Amsterdam

After its success in London, the 'Earth from the Air experienced by blind people ' exhibition will be in Amsterdam, Holland, on September 22.

It is an exhibition of aerial photographs of the earth taken by Yann Arthus-Bertrand in collaboration with Alain Mikli, who has made it available for blind people too.

The Alain Mikli teams used high-definition (300 dpi) photographs by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and acetate plates supplied by Mazzucchelli, to reproduce 30 of the 160 pictures in tactile form. A blind person followed every stage of the work to test the quality of the result and to give useful indications aimed at optimizing understanding.

The entire itinerary is accompanied by texts in Braille which give a short description of the tactile pictures: in this way, blind people are able to interpret not only contours, but colors and shades as well.
