Rob Stevens new CTO at Adlens®

Michael C. Ferrara: "Rob is an essential part of the path undertaken by a company" Adlens® has announced the appointment of Dr. Rob Stevens as Chief Technology Officer, a newly created role in the company. As CTO, Stevens will head a team of talented scientists, engineers and designers who have played a key role in the creation of two new variable focus products that will be launched by end-2013.   In 2008 Stevens joined Adlens as Technical Director and immediately demonstrated that he was indispensable for the further development of two existing technologies − Fluid-Injection, for the John Lennon™ and Hemisphere® collections and Alvarez for the Emergensee™ line. Under his leadership, the team invented all 110 Adlens® patents. The combination of leading-edge optics with materials, science, machinery and manufacturing has enabled end-consumers to adjust lenses to suit their personal needs for the first time.   "Rob is an essential part of the path undertaken Adlens®, aimed at changing the way in which eyeglasses are used around the world through innovation, technology and engineering" – commented Michael C. Ferrara, CEO & Executive Chairman of Adlens®. "Rob is responsible for one of the most successful advancements that the optical industry has seen in recent decades. The eyeglasses are becoming the innovation category of the future and we look forward to supporting Rob and his team on their journey toward developing the eyeglasses of the future."   The Adlens® technology has made it possible to donate eyeglasses to developing countries where there are not enough optometrists and ophthalmologists to help the millions of people who need optical prescriptions. By 2015, the Adlens' philanthropic program, Buy One Give One directed by the Vision for a Nation humanitarian foundation, will guarantee eyeglasses to everyone in need of them in Rwanda.   Before joining Adlens®, Dr. Stevens was Technical Director at PS Research LLP, a company that supplies the automotive and petrochemical sectors with modern optical diagnostics tools aimed at improving exhaust emissions. Previously, he worked for 8 years in a research department at Oxford, where he specialized in Nonlinear Optics and Laser Diagnostics. He lectured on physics at Jesus College, Oxford, and spent four years at Pitney Bowes, where his period of service on three continents covered product development, quality control, sales, marketing and IT. Dr. Stevens graduated from the University of Manchester with a First Class Honors degree in physics (MPhys) and technological physics. He was awarded a PhD in physics (DPhil) with major in Nonlinear Optics at Oxford University.
