PPG appoints Liebenguth as general manager, optical materials

He will be responsible for the optical monomers, coatings, sunlens and industrial lines of business PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) announced that John Liebenguth has been named general manager, optical materials, effective immediately. He will be responsible for the optical monomers, coatings, sunlens and industrial lines of business and will report to Richard C. Elias, senior vice president, Optical and Specialty Materials.   Liebenguth also will continue to serve as director, sales and marketing, until other changes are announced. "John's extensive optical industry experience and his ability to manage a diverse, international sales organization make him an ideal choice for this role," Elias said. "I am confident that John's leadership will ensure the continued growth of these global businesses."   In his new role, Liebenguth succeeds Christine Camsuzou, who has been appointed general manager, consumer electronics, for PPG's industrial coatings business. Liebenguth began his career with PPG in 1979 and worked in the company's industrial coatings and packaging coatings businesses before joining the optical products business in 2005. He earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
