Peter Sagan wins Gent-Wevelgem
Rudy Project eyewear worn by this champion whose long-time dream was to win a northern Classic An astonishing performance by Sagan, who came second in the Milan-San Remo, but triumphed at the 75th edition of the Gent-Wevelgem, the first great northern Classic. The Cannondale Pro Cycling athlete sprinted away from the other riders at 3.5 km from the finish line and came in 23" ahead of Slovenian cyclist Bozic, of the Astana team. Sagan was enthusiastic: "I've been waiting for a long time to win a Northern Classic. These races are my favorites and they also suit me. Why didn't I wait for the final sprint? I felt very strong and it was best to avoid any nasty surprise. The Gent-Wevelgem is not on the same level as the San Remo, Flanders or Roubaix, but I'm very happy in any case". For a race that was affected by bad weather – the first fifty kilometers were in fact canceled due to the cold – the Slovak cyclist relied on Rudy Project's Genetyk™ Racing Pro glasses with shatterproof ImpactX™ Photochromic Red lenses – the best choice in difficult weather conditions like those during the race (cold, rainy and windy...), since they give a better perception of contrasts and are luminous in poor light. Rudy Project also designed the ultra-light Windmax™ helmet in the new Lime Fluo color, which was worn for the first time by the Cannondale Pro Cycling Team champions. Peter Sagan is said to be one of the strongest and most promising cyclists in circulation. He is skilled on all types of routes and is frequently compared with the great cyclists of the past. Such serious comparisons did not seem to alarm the young Slovak, who decidedly seized victory without too much nervousness. Sagan is in great shape and ready to win the other Classics in perfect "The Art of Winning" style.
