Andrzej Wajda wins 2013 Persol Award

The Venice International Film Festival honours the Polish director and his film "Walesa. Man of Hope" Cinema has always been in Persol's DNA: in fact, since the 1960's the brand's models have appeared in some of the most influential Italian and international films and have become the preferred choice of various leading artists and stars from the movie industry and show business. Persol's strong bond with cinema, which has stood the test of time, has evolved into its partnership with the Venice International Film Festival, now in its ninth consecutive season.   This year the prestigious award went to Polish director Andrzej Wajda for his new masterpiece "Walesa. Man of Hope", in celebration of one of the legends of cinema.   The Persol Award will be presented to Andrzej Wajda on Thursday 5 September during the 70th Festival (28 August-7 September 2013), directed by Alberto Barbera and organised by Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta.   Following the award ceremony, at 21.45 the 70th Festival will present the world première of Andrzej Wajda's masterpiece "Walesa. Man of hope" in the Sala Grande (Palazzo del Cinema), as part of the "Out of Competition" section.   Fabio d'Angelantonio, Chief Marketing Officer of Luxottica Group, comments: "We are delighted to continue our fruitful partnership with the Venice Film Festival.
