The eyewear world is in mourning

Guy Charlot has passed away last night at the age of 86 We have just learned about the death of one of the pillars of the eyewear sector in Europe and throughout the world.   Guy Charlot passed away July 24 at the age of 86 after working with dedication for a considerable number of years in the eyewear industry. Despite his age, the president of the Silmo Association continued to the last to fight for the interests of a sector that was so dear to him and in which he always played a major role, first at Essilor and then as president of Silmo. A personality that many, if not everyone, in the eyewear world has heard about, met or has been involved with in some way.   Up to the time of his departure, Guy Charlot was president of the Silmo Association, but for about a year he worked side by side with Philippe LaFont, president of the Silmo exhibition.   Charlot is accredited with innumerable achievements: over the years he developed the French exhibition and added to its dynamism by introducing excellent new ideas and concepts, such as the Silmo d'Or, the Village, forums devoted to trends, Link by Silmo and the Silmo Academy, of which he was still president.   Guy Charlot dedicated his whole life to promoting the eyewear sector and concentrated all his efforts on its development. By all those who knew him and worked with him, he will be remembered with admiration for his passion, dedication and determination.
