Return to the future for Oliver Peoples’ 25th anniversary
The famous brand will be celebrating with a Special Edition based on Larry Leigh's sketches of 1989 The unmistakable Oliver Peoples' style is 25 years old. To celebrate this milestone, founder and creative director Larry Leigh has proposed a special edition of models based on some sketches he made in 1989, found almost by chance. Sketches of designs that were too avant-garde for the boisterous Eighties but which are now fashionable and at the same time represent the story of a brand that became a success without the need to flaunt a logo. "Less is more" is the formula of success for the California eyewear company that opened its first store in 1987 on legendary Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood with a collection of Thirties and Fifties American-made eyewear bought at an auction. Dedicating the name of the brand to the mysterious owner of the collection whose name was found on an old receipt, the instinct to focus on vintage led Los Angeles surfing enthusiast Larry Leigh to the creation of an eyewear line that was the epitome of the Californian lifestyle and Hollywood stars, as demonstrated by the advertising campaign's latest testimonial, Ray Liotta.
