Marc by Marc Jacobs for the Atlantic Forest The brand supports
The Marc by Marc Jacobs collection, a line of vintage-chic eyewear by a brand that is known for its commitment to important charitable projects, supports The Nature Conservancy, an environmental protection association operating throughout the world, with a new program: “Plant a seed – grow your tree and save the forest”. The aim of the project is to promote The Nature Conservancy’s “Plant a Billion Trees” campaign with important awareness-raising actions about protecting the Earth’s natural resources. The mission of the campaign is to safeguard and restore the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, one of the tropical rain forests that is most at risk from extinction. Currently, only 12% of the original area still exists and of this small part only 7% is well preserved.
Dedicated to this project are bio-based sunglasses MMJ 261/s, which are made from a material derived from the seeds of the castor-oil plant. This chocolate-colored eyewear has green temples, the texture of which is reminiscent of leaves, and is presented in a recycled-leather case made from leftover hide parts that have been reprocessed and reassembled. To support the initiative, Marc by Marc Jacobs will make a contribution to The Nature Conservancy for the restoration of the Atlantic Forest. Visitors to the dedicated website www.plantaseedproject.com will find detailed information about the project and how to plant a “virtual” tree and make it grow. Through a Facebook application, friends can be invited to take part in the project: not just a game but active environmental awareness raising.
