Lozza designed by Mika Special Edition
From singer to designer: Mika premiers his range of sunglasses created for Lozza Mika, one of Lozza's most successful endorsers, has espoused the brand's heritage to such an extent as to design, in close collaboration with the De Rigo group, a Special Edition line of glasses for the brand's 2013 sun collection. To this end, the international pop star, loved the world over for his number one hits and striking look, has carefully researched and selected timeless style details to be applied to eyewear, drawing inspiration for his successful capsule collection from the refined wood finishes of Riva speedboats and the soft leather seats and polished chrome of 1950s Aston Martins. The Lozza designed by Mika Special Edition line comprises three sunglasses, in which wood plays a leading role. Two of the three models – the limited edition Cooper Chic and Macho Chic Poetry – come with the front pieces in solid zebrawood, and are produced entirely in Italy, conceived for true connoisseurs of ever discreet luxury. Furthermore, ever fascinated by iconic cinema celebs – as demonstrated by his first hit single, Grace Kelly – Mika also drew inspiration from the scenes of cult films and from great actors of the calibre of James Dean and Audrey Hepburn, who turned glasses into an accessory of seduction. Two of the three Lozza by Mika models, encapsulates a truly original concept: a secret message is engraved on the inside of the temples, to be shared with the right person at the right time. The packaging has also been the subject of extensive research: the models' leather cases echoes the typically British style of the historical globetrotter suitcases. COOPER CHIC Mod. SL1969 col. 8VA The classic Cooper model, one of the Lozza icons, has been reinterpreted in a "chrome chic" key, with a chromed metal structure paired with real wooden top bars and temples. This particularly sophisticated model echoes the typical chroming of 1950s cars and the refined finishes of luxury yachts. MACHO CHIC POETRY Mod. SL1970 col. 8YLP Macho, another key Lozza model, with its rounded shape, is even more markedly vintage. The front piece in real zebrawood is matched with acetate temples in ocean blue, forest green and deeps red, calling to mind the polished chrome of some of the most beautiful, roaring vintage cars. This model encapsulates the innovative 'poetry' concept: a secret message is engraved on the inside of the temples, hidden from prying eyes, yet ready to be revealed at the right time... and, why not, to make a pass at someone! MACHO POETRY Mod. SL1913 col. ANBP Among the models designed by Mika, Macho Poetry is made entirely in acetate, with the front piece calling to mind, through the use of striking streaks, the wood effect of the Macho Chic model, here reinterpreted in a darker version. This new model conceals a secret, poetic message, engraved on the inside of the temples.
