Associazione Italiana Ipovisione: election of new Governing Council

Associazione Italiana Ipovisione: election of new Governing Council

Below are the names of the representatives for the 2012-2013 two-year period Members of the Associazione Italiana Ipovisione (the Italian Low Vision Association) were called to elect their representatives on the National Governing Council for the 2012-2013 two-year period.   In order, they are as follows:   -Luciano Martinelli, Head of the Istituto Ottico Contalens-Pioltello/Milan East   -Antonella Carella, Head of the Istituto Ottico Ortottico - Piacenza   -Dr. Paolo Carelli, Head of Ottica Sacco - Naples   -Massimo Bressan, Head of MCRinOTTICA - Bologna   -Biagio Iurilli, Head of Optics International - Genoa   with the re-election of General Secretary Mario Zanzi, who is involved in the Association as a volunteer and took on this position after a career of many years in international public relations and marketing.   The various items on the Agenda of the first meeting of the new National Governing Council included the program of activities for next year. One of the main subjects was the drafting of a list of doctors who are actively involved in low vision. The list is not intended to be exhaustive but rather to provide local information for low vision patients. Currently, the list includes the names of doctors in the provinces of Milan, Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Pistoia, Ascoli Piceno, Lecce and Naples, but it is expected that the names of doctors in other areas will be added.   The second item on the Agenda concerned the training programs that for many years the Association has dedicated to everyone who is technically and professionally involved in severe visual impairment. There will be theory and practical courses with the participation of various qualified teachers who have at least 10 years of specific experience.   These matters are combined with the Association's long-standing commitment to representing also those areas of Italy that are currently insufficiently covered. It is evident that the new National Governing Council will have no lack of opportunities for ensuring yet another period of important achievements to coincide with the 30th anniversary of a professional body that, once again, has proven to be one of the few available to anyone in Italy who deals with low vision.
